CBCT systems are used by dentists for various clinical applications including dental implant planning, visualization of abnormal teeth, evaluation of the jaw and face, cleft palate assessment, endodontic (root canal) diagnosis, and diagnosis of dental trauma. Cone Beam 3D images provide high-definition, three-dimensional, digital data and precise anatomical information of all oral and maxillofacial structures.
The CBCT system rotates around the patient, capturing data using a cone-shaped X-ray beam. This data is used to reconstruct a 3D image of the patient’s teeth, oral and maxillofacial region (mouth, jaw, and neck), as well as the ears, nose, and throat.
Having the CBCT in the office prevents patients from having to be referred to a radiology office and is often more cost effective when done directly by the dentist.
